But Chad’s story—and the values behind the business—began long before the first product was ever engraved.

Service Before Business

Before founding Montana Custom Mags, Chad Curnow spent 22 years serving on active duty in the United States Navy, reaching the rank of Senior Chief.

Those years shaped the way he approaches his work today—with discipline, precision, attention to detail and pride in doing the job right. They also created a lasting connection to the military members, veterans, first responders and families who remain an important part of the Montana Custom Mags community.

From a Side Project to a Family-Built Business

What began with custom-engraved magazines grew through craftsmanship, word of mouth and customers looking for products that felt more personal than something pulled from a shelf.

One of the company’s proudest milestones came when Chad, his son and his daughter delivered Montana Custom Mags’ wholesale order to SCHEELS Sporting Goods. Seeing their products displayed inside one of the country’s most recognized sporting-goods stores was more than a business accomplishment. It was proof of how far an idea, hard work and family support could go.

Today, Montana Custom Mags has expanded into RFID wallets, tumblers, hats, apparel, personalized gifts, business engraving and custom pieces created for life’s meaningful moments.
